DUST Trails 18: Deliverable 4.1!

Updated: Oct 2, 2024

Curious about context mapping or territorial capital and their role in citizen participation? Well, a key block of the DUST project -“Setting the Stage for Participation: Mapping, Visualization, and Digitalization” - builds on earlier research to prepare for the participatory experiments in Regional Futures Literacy Labs (RFLLs), where citizens, policymakers, and experts will come together to shape sustainable futures.

Central to this preparation is Deliverable 4.1 (D4.1), which maps the policy landscape across four regions where the RFLLs will take place: Stara Zagora (Bulgaria), Lusatia (Germany), Katowice (Poland), and Norrbotten (Sweden). This context mapping explores how local sustainability transitions may affect these areas, laying the groundwork for deeper engagement with communities. To do so, D4.1 analyses current and future sustainability initiatives using an adapted Territorial Capital (TC) framework, alongside Geographic Information Systems to create a database of key policy issues. Insights from this comparison will help inform new policy recommendations, which will be discussed using the e-democracy tool Pol.is, supporting LECs play an active role in moulding the sustainability transition of their regions.
